Mr. Carp has more than 35 years of experience in accounting, finance, real estate and special assets. In 2019, Mr. Carp joined Veritex Community Bank as Director of Special Assets. Through numerous acquisitions over the past 5 years, Veritex has grown to be the 10th largest bank in Texas. From 2013 to 2018, Mr. Carp was a Managing Director at Strategic Asset Services LLC (an H/2 Capital Partners company). Prior to joining SAS, Mr. Carp spent more than 20 years at Berkadia Commercial Mortgage (including its predecessors Capmark Finance, GMAC Commercial Mortgage, Lend Lease Real Estate Investments, AMRESCO and BEI Real Estate Services). During his career, Mr. Carp has been responsible for managing teams engaged in the surveillance, workout and liquidation of sub- and non-performing loans (including CRE, C&I and LIHTC) and real estate. From 1992 to 2018, Mr. Carp devoted a substantial amount of time in CMBS Special Servicing. Over the past 30+ years, Mr. Carp has led teams (and been hands-on) managing and resolving more than $20 billion of distressed real estate assets (loans and REO) for governmental agencies, financial institutions, opportunistic investors, finance companies and REMIC trusts.
In 2017, Mr. Carp received a Master of Arts degree in Dispute Resolution from Southern Methodist University.
Mr. Carp is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed real estate broker and trained mediator.
